about the author
Heather is a Canadian author who lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba with her husband Mike and her daughter Curalise.
Heather was inspired to start writing children’s books because of her young daughter’s love for reading, even at her very young age. Heather wanted to create books that encourage curiosity in young minds and are entertaining for adults as they explore them together.
Heather grew up on a farm and has always been interested in creative writing. When she was young, she wrote an award-winning short story as a 4-H member. After graduation from high school, she moved to Winnipeg to attend university. She earned her degree with the University of Manitoba, and later achieved her Fellowship through the Canadian Securities Institute. Although she’s built her career in finance, she re-ignited her passion for writing after her daughter was born.
Heather is a continuous learner, and tries to learn one new thing every day! She has been a member of Headliners Toastmasters for over a decade, and has spent many wonderful hours volunteering at the Mennonite Central Committee. Heather is also a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
